Over my years in practice I’ve seen lots of patients try and fail at dieting and weight loss.Time is a great teacher and I have learned an awful lot about what works and what doesn’t.Here are two case histories of successful weight/fat reduction that you might find interesting.

The first story is of a 40 year-old female patient I will call Lauren.  Lauren’s story is typical of my patients who tried our Haas Wellness Centers Fat Detox approach, so with the holidays—and holiday overindulgence—upon us, I thought it would be helpful to share her story.  This isn’t a tale of miraculous overnight weight loss, but rather of a more gradual weight reduction that has now been maintained for a number of months.

Lauren was a healthy woman who was by no means dramatically overweight.  Instead, she had fallen into the pattern so common to men and women of her age with a demanding life of work and family.  Despite a healthy diet and routine exercise, over the last decade, Lauren had accumulated an extra 10 pounds that she could not shed no matter how hard she tried.  Lauren would jump into diet after diet with enthusiasm, but no matter how doggedly she stuck to each plan, the weight wouldn’t budge and, understandably, after several weeks with no results, Lauren would lose her resolve. 

When we introduced Lauren to our Haas Wellness Centers Fat Detox Plan, she called in for an appointment.  It was mid-summer, and Lauren was looking forward (with a little anxiety) to a trip to the beach in a month.  I spent a lot of time with Lauren that day and, admittedly, I was a bit stumped.  I looked at what Lauren was eating compared to what she was expending, and on paper, she should have been losing weight all along.  Her blood work revealed a healthy thyroid although her adrenal glands were fried—pretty typical for American adults.  I wasn’t sure if our Fat Detox approach would work for Lauren or if she was setting herself up for another disappointment. She was willing to try once more to shed those extra pounds, so she left my office with her supplements specific to her metabolism two containers of Total Green

The first few days of the diet were a little rough for Lauren.  The menu consisted of nutriceuticals and fruit-and-Total Green shakes—no other food and no caffeine.  Lauren complained of a headache, malaise, and hunger.  After four days, Lauren was allowed to add some veggies and a little protein at lunch, and reported feeling much better.  After a week, she stopped by the office to pick up more Total Green.  We took her measurements and she was excited to find she had already lost a couple of inches. 

Buoyed by her initial success, Lauren stuck with the diet for six weeks and lost over a dozen pounds—a healthy 2-pound per week loss—and nearly 10 inches from her waist, hips, and thighs.  She has maintained the loss since late summer, but the really remarkable part is that Lauren is actually now consuming significantly MORE calories than she was before she started the diet and yet maintains a lower weight.  Contrary to almost all popular weight loss diets that tend to leave the dieter with a lower metabolic rate after the diet than before, Lauren’s post-diet metabolism appears to be stronger than before the diet. Her diet appears to have helped repair and strengthen her sagging metabolism.

Story number two is a male patient in his fifties that I will call Bob.Bob had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, Type II Diabetes, fatigue, joint pain and he was at least fifty pounds overweight.His medical doctor and endocrinologist had told him to diet and exercise and he had tried very hard but he hurt too much to exercise and although he was eating correctly, the scale just wouldn’t budge.Bob was stuck in a downward spiral.The less he exercised and the less he ate the slower his metabolism got.If he were lighter the stress on his joints would improve and we would be able to start to exercise again.

We decided to combine the Haas Wellness Fat Loss Plan with the Zerona Lipo-Laser.By jump-starting the fat loss with the laser, Bob dropped eleven inches after only two weeks.Bob was ecstatic!He was very diligent with the dietary recommendations and the supplements and he began to walk in the evenings after work.The Lipo-Laser requires a one week break after each six sessions which are spread over two weeks. Bob decided to do another six sessions of Zerona.At the end of week five, Bob had lost over twenty inches and over thirty pounds.Bob felt so much better that he was able to join a fitness program and continues to do very well at last checkup.
